Greyhounds are mentioned in 11 of Shakespeare’s plays
Most of the greyhounds in our care have never been in a house before. There’s so much to learn about being a pet rather than a supreme athlete! There may be some who are struggling in kennels especially if they had been adopted and returned, or they may have a medical need that is better dealt with in a home environment.
However, all of our dogs are eligible to be fostered and will benefit from it as long as foster carers undertake the tasks needed to prepare that dog for a forever home and provide feedback to help us find a suitable adopter.
Our fostering schemes are extremely flexible. You can foster for a few days, a few weeks, or a few months. Any experience of being in a home is worthwhile for our dogs.
Fostering not only helps the dog, it helps us learn about the dog’s personality, needs, and quirks to help us find the right match for their forever family. For longer term fosters it also frees up kennel space for another dog in need of a home.
Fostering can be challenging but it is also very rewarding to see an ex-racing greyhound gain confidence in a home environment, learn to be a family pet and go on to be successfully adopted.
Have a look at FAQ's in the Fostering Policy below and if you are interested please complete the fostering application or get in touch to find out how to get started.
