All About AZZA (AZZA DIAMOND)

Hi, my name is Azza – I know it might sound like I’m a hooligan with this name but Azza in Arabic  means ‘love and cooperation’ and that sums me right up!!

I joined Home Run Hounds in February, I’m about to turn 6 in July.   I’ve had lots of fun while waiting for my forever home and been out lots of times with the humans.  I am a good boy on the lead and don’t pull, I am used to the shops, children, other dogs and with traffic, and going to lots of different places.  If it's really busy I need some reassurance but I'm confident I'll get the hang of it in time after my racing career.  I sometimes need help in and out of cars, they can be quite awkward with my long legs, but I’ve managed several different cars with no help.   I love going out and exploring, I take it all in my stride.

The humans say I’m a lovely dog,

           ‘Extremely well behaved’

           ‘Perfectly behaved’

           ‘Laid back’

           ‘Easy going’

           ‘loving’

As you can see from my pictures I’m quite a stunner and have a gentle loving nature.  I’m a big softy really and share my kennel with another dog and we get on fine.   I'd be an ideal dog for someone who hasn't had a dog or greyhound before or if like me, you are looking to retire and take it easy.  I do like a lean to get reassurance and I love cuddles.  I can’t wait for my forever home, come and get to know me……..soon! xx

Azza went on a long weekend foster to practice for his forever home and what a "diamond" he was. Here is the report from his foster carers:

This weekends foster visit is the lovely chill Azza. (Azza Diamond) 6 years old.
Azza has his own pace walking and that is all  if you're in a rush, don't walk Azza, lol.

No pulling, walks nicely, not interested in traffic noise, people on bikes. Friendly with my friends 2 older children. Did want to jump on the jogger.

Non reactive to big dogs, little bit to smaller dogs, distractable.
Has been a bit picky with food. Eats his breakfast but not his dinner. Might be the sardines on breakfast, no food guarding. Only treats he's been willing to eat was the sausage.

Had a little play now and again but he's a lazy butt and prefers the bed.

Settled straight into the house, no accidents at all. Took a little while to get on the bed, didn't seem keen on new textures under his paws, but once he was used to it he was very happy.

Tried the stairs once up no problem. Coming back down stopped half way and needed help.

Azza is a lovely, quiet, affectionate boy.

Would make a great family addition.
