Meet Cat: A Beautiful most rewarding project of your life
Cat is a stunning black Greyhound with ears that have a personality of their own. She is a "tale of two dogs," and we want to be completely honest about what life with her looks like right now.
The Two Sides of Cat
1. The Adventurer (Outdoors)
Once Cat is out of her kennel or the house, she transforms. Her head goes up, her tail starts wagging, and she becomes confident and curious.
* Walking: She walks beautifully on a lead with zero pulling.
* Dogs: She is a social butterfly with other hounds! She has met many dogs with no negative reactions and even enjoys nose-to-nose greetings.
* Outings: She has visited Shenstone and Lichfield, traveled perfectly in the car (though she needs a lift in), and absolutely loved her first puppacino.
2. The Wallflower (Indoors)
The "human" part of the world is still very scary for Cat.
* Touch: She currently does not enjoy being touched. No head pats, no ear rubs, no belly scratches. If she feels cornered, she will try to make herself as small as possible.
* Her Safe Space: During a recent foster stay, she chose a specific spot in the kitchen as her "safe zone" and preferred to stay there rather than join the humans in the living room.
* Independence: She isn't a "scaredy-cat" in terms of noise or house life; she just currently prefers it if the humans keep their distance.
Why we have high hopes for her
Despite her wariness, Cat has two huge things going for her: her house manners and her appetite!
* Food is the Key: Cat loves her food. She gets excited for meals and will follow you if she thinks a snack is involved. This is the bridge her new family will use to build a bond.
* Clean & Quiet: She had zero accidents in her foster home and will whine or bark at the door when she needs to go out.
The Ideal Home
Cat needs a quiet, low-pressure environment. She would likely thrive with another confident dog (like her kennel mate Astra) to show her the ropes. She needs owners who are happy to let her "just exist" in the same room without forcing affection on her.
With time, patience, and a lot of chicken, that fun, sweet dog we see on walks will eventually start showing up in the living room, too.
