Remember that all of our greyhounds are NeuteredVaccinated Microchipped and ready to meet their loving new family. Could it be you?
**RESERVED** This hound has been reserved for a potential new owner.
Lovely Lionel has had so many "almosts" when people have come to adopt a dog and we never really could figure out why. Maybe not the pushiest of dog when visitors come, our volunteers all knew what a lovely dog he is so were quite sad for him. He's had a few weekend foster stays and he has been a superstar. We asked his most recent fosterers to take some lovely pics and give us some detailed feedback so we can tell the world what we already knew - Lionel is just fabulous. It's along one so, grab a cup of tea and enjoy the read and pics! (Isn't he just so photogenic?)Hi everyone!
We’ve had the lovely Lionel staying with us this weekend so thought I’d do a write up on how he got on, it might be a long one sorry !
So overall we think he is absolutely brilliant, we can’t understand how he hasn’t got a home already! We genuinely couldn’t fault him on anything.
Got on great with Banana and Pecan, especially Pecan who he was practically joined at the hip with!
He often would sit on the same bed as Pecan which if someone is potentially planning to home him with another dog it might be worth seeing how that dog is with sharing space/things, as Lionel has no sense of personal space haha.
He slept through the night without any issues, no crying at all when he was put to bed or in the night.
He travelled great in the car and other than occasionally popping his head up to look out the window, he lay down the whole way to Nottingham.
Was super chilled out in the house, at first it seemed like he felt as though he should be doing something and would stand on his bed, but after seeing Banana and Pecan lazing around I think he realised he could too and spent a lot of time relaxing on his bed.
He did do one wee in the house on a plant (understandable, plants should be outside right?!) but after that he only used the toilet outside and there was no accidents in the night.
He was quite apprehensive to take treats, eat his tea and drink water yesterday, however today he ate his breakfast and had the world’s biggest drink but only when we left the room.
Given that he’d been ok through the night we thought we’d see how he was if we left the house and watched him through the camera, we only went to the gym which is right by our house so if there was any issues we could get back quickly, however other than a tiny cry that was for seconds, he went to bed and was fine.
On walks he was great, wasn’t strong on the lead and could easily be moved along from seeing squirrels without much persuasion. He seems really happy about going for walks and was wagging his tail as soon as his lead was on
He knows his name and seems to already have a bit of an understanding of commands like “wait” and “come on”.
Didnt have any bad encounters with other dogs on our walks.
Wasn’t bothered by any household noises like tv, washing machine etc. Someone also let off fireworks and that didn’t bother him either.
We have wooden flooring and that wasn’t an issue for him.
Didn’t bother us for food when we were eating and generally doesn’t seem very food orientated.
We also went to a pet shop so he could pick a treat for himself, he was on his best behaviour there too!
We really think he’s great and if we didn’t have Banana and Pecan already we’d of signed the paperwork for him to stay!
Lionel has been waiting since January for his forever family - please give this super boy the chance to be loved as a family pet.
