Sunday was a gorgeous day for a get together with loads of homed hounds - not too hot, not too cold, just as our beloved greys like it !
Our venue was Highgate Common, where walkers joining us have a choice of a longer route (around an hour) or a shorter route (approx 30 mins), to suit all ages and energy levels (both humans and hounds). Pre walk, Helen and Lynda worked the crowd selling raffle tickets and Liz and Simon once again provided participants with a choice of hot or cold drinks, in return for a donation to our fund raising. Canine companions were treated to fish bites (kindly made and donated by Sue), sausages (a firm favourite) courtesy of Shirley and Phil and Lisa's natural home made treats - which included crackling, dried beef heart and salmon bites - some of which Lisa had bagged up for a home time snack treat.
A total of 23 dogs took part. Kennel dogs Buck, Windmill, Ada, Lenny and Alice joined in the fun and sniffs, proudly sporting their 'I need a Home' coats and Home Run Hounds bandanas.
Thanks to everyone for their kind support in helping us to raise £141.
Next walk will be Sunday 6th August at Baggeridge Country Park. We look forward to seeing you again then.
As a charity, our goal is the health, wellbeing and happiness of ex racing Greyhounds.
