Handsome Haribo (Aero Haribo) had been waiting for his Happy Ever After for quite a while at our Wombourne Kennels and we had no idea why because he is a) black b) male and c) big maybe?
He
watched his pals come and go, but large black males always seem to be the last to be snapped up. We think the reason is because there are so many of them
Having been in fabulous foster homes a couple of times, it was clear Haribo liked the company of another dog, plus loved having his human around most of the day, would we find a loving home for him?
So…. you may remember the tragic story of Ben (Could notbeme), who sadly collapsed and died in his Mum's arms a few weeks ago and way before his time.
Ben's Mum Debbie, a former kennel hand, knows her greyhounds inside out and contacted us to say her older lad Wills was really missing Ben's company and that she needed to adopt another. Her only stipulation for dogs to try socialisation with Wills was it had to be a big black male, as they are so often overlooked.
Having made a 3-and-a-half-hour trip to our Wombourne kennels, we worked on socialisation with Wills and Haribo and they almost instantly chose each other to be brothers
We cannot put into words our thanks to Debbie for putting aside her personal grief to put Wills needs first - what an amazing Greyhound Mum !
Haribo settled in almost straight away (roaching on day 2) and is now very much part of the family.
Now named Beau, this lucky lad will have the best possible retirement and will be very loved
