HENRY (BALLYMURRY HENRY)'s story:
Henry went out on our foster2adopt scheme on trial as he was going to live with a cat and a smaller dog. It all went so well that he's now been adopted. We receive this lovely message from his new owners.
"Thank you so much Home Run Hounds for allowing us to give Henry a wonderful new life.
We
feel so blessed and lucky to have Henry in our lives. He is a dream come true for me, (Amanda) as one of my goals in my life was to rescue a retired greyhound! After growing up with a lurcher for 14 years and being around my step grandad’s greyhound when I was very young.. a greyhound is something I’ve always wanted for as long as I can remember. I’m so happy that my dream has come true!
Henry is settling in amazingly, it’s like he’s always been here and we can’t imagine our lives without him now! He’s taken to Poppy ( our almost 12 year old staffy cross ) so well and I think he knows that she is the boss! So Henry gives her lots of space and doesn’t pester her, so she doesn’t mind him at all! I actually think she loves having a friend and enjoys his company! They have shocked us by both laying together in Henry’s new bed on day one!! and Henry doesn’t mind our old 15 year old cat Casper either, he’s not taken any interest in the cat whatsoever.
Henry has already been on a camping trip with us for the Great Global Greyhound Walk in Barnsley and slept the whole time whilst travelling in the campervan, he wasn’t fazed by the noisy old van at all!
We love Henry so much, he is such a calm, chilled, laidback boy, I wish more people would consider a greyhound. We are truly grateful to have Henry in our lives, we can’t wait for the future with Henry, and we will be having lots of adventures in the campervan in the summer months, visiting lots of lovely places with him.
Our 7 year old son Dylan says ‘Henry is the bestest dog ever and I love him so much.’ I’m so glad our son will experience life growing up with greyhound, he loves pointy nosed dogs just as much as I do!"
