Another Home Run Hounds Success Story!

ICE (OUTDOOR ICE)

ICE (OUTDOOR ICE)'s story:

Happily Homed Ice - Homing number 80!

Some of our greyhounds wait longer than others to find their happy ever after and Ice had waited so patiently, sharing his kennel with a number of girls who had gone home.
Our volunteers couldn’t understand why Ice didn’t have a queue of prospective adopters because he is practically perfect. When we were contacted by Erb and his wife to find a suitable hound, the wait was over!

Erb needed a special greyhound that would fit into life at home, he is a very experienced sight hound dad and was devastated when 2 of his greys died within a short time leaving Gwen, a rather particular greyhound on her own. Erb knew that Gwen would choose her new sibling and after viewing several dogs that Gwen decided were not suitable, he was beginning to think that having 2 dogs was not going to be a possibility.

After meeting Ice at kennels, Erb and his wife thought that he may work so an off site meeting was arranged. Gwen seemed to like Ice so a home visit took place, Gwen was pleased to see Ice and again and he loved exploring his potential new home.

Ice went home on our foster to adopt scheme, it didn’t take long for everyone to fall in love with our black beauty and a trip was made back to kennels to complete the paperwork. Ice is Home Run Hounds 80th homing in 2024! We are told that Ice has a full diary every day, he has toys to bury, car washing sponges to steal and he has to check the barn multiple times looking for mice and the occasional nap with Gwen.

We now know why Ice had waited so long to be homed, he was waiting to be the perfect fur sibling to Gwen and bring happiness back into his new home. We wish Ice and Gwen many years of happiness together. Kennel hand, Corren and volunteer Dick happily posed with Ice for his homing photo as they both had a real soft spot for this gorgeous boy.
