ROD (SMALL FACES)'s story:
HAPPY HOMING: ROD HAS FOUND HIS FOREVER HOME!
We might need a tissue (or a whole box!) for this one. After being one of our long-stayers, our super nervous boy Rod has officially been adopted by the wonderful Sarah and Stephen Price and their greyhounds Quinn and Titch!
Rod spent a long time waiting for the right people to see past his shyness, and it turns out he was just waiting for Sarah and Stephen. We arranged for them to meet Rod at his wonderful foster home with Ian (who has the patience of a saint) and Rod warmed to Sarah immediately. After only a few days of 'foster-to-adopt,' they knew he was the perfect fit.
The "nervous boy" we used to know is transforming before our eyes! For a dog who was scared of the world and men in particular, Rod is doing brilliantly with Stephen, seeking him out for fuss and enjoying their walks together. Sarah says she is "absolutely over the moon" and, honestly, so are we.
Rod has found his "emotional support dogs" in Titch and Quinn. He follows them everywhere, copies their moves, and they all huddle together for group cuddles.
He’s been seen jumping playfully in the garden and enjoying "group sniffs" with the pack.
Seeing a long-stay dog go from terrified to "cuddling on the sofa" is exactly why we do what we do. It just goes to show that with a little patience, some space, and a lot of love, even the most nervous souls can find their confidence.
Being in foster care helped Rod get ready for his forever home. Thank you and well done Ian - fostering really does make a difference.
Have a happy life, Rod! You earned it and thank you so very much to Sarah and Stephen for seeing Rod's potential and giving him a chance
