Did you know?

Greyhounds are the second fastest animals on earth. Only the cheetah is faster!

Volunteering With Home Run Hounds

There are many ways in which you can help us by volunteering for as little or as much time as you are able, at one or more of our four sites in Wombourne, Hagley, Lichfield or Suffolk.

Do you have a suggestion or a skill we have missed that you can offer our team?

Do you know of an event we could attend to spread the word and raise awareness of what we do and where we can show off our wonderful hounds?

If you can help us, please get in touch go to the Contact Us page and send us a message.

NEW VOLUNTEERS

  • Walking hounds on site or off site in the local area, parks and shopping areas introducing the hounds to the outside world and to other breeds of dog…and maybe a puppucino!
  • Walking our hounds at our monthly walks at Baggeridge Country Park, Waseley Country Park, Lichfield, Tamworth or Worcester Woods (see event page)
  • Spending times with our hounds, grooming them, cleaning their teeth (and on some sites helping to feed our hounds).
  • Attending one our planned awareness events either with or without a hound, helping on a stall or talking to prospective owners about the how greyt our hounds are.
  • Fundraising for HRH by organising your own event (running a marathon or jumping out of an aeroplane)
  • Providing or collecting items for our raffles and tombola
  • Being creative - making things we can sell?
  • Suggest a venue or organisation who would take one of our collection boxes
  • Suggest an event we can attend

EXPERIENCED VOLUNTEERS

  • Foster a dog on a short or longer-term basis.  This may be for medical reasons or where a dog has been too long in kennels and would benefit from being in a home (subject to checks).
  • Take one of our hounds out for a day, or for a whole weekend, to assess how they are in the big wide world.  Many of our hounds have never known what it is like to be in a home. (Subject to checks)
  • Be part of a team who visit potential homes for our dogs and check they are suitable for re-homing.
  • Spread the word about greyhounds by visiting/talking at events or local groups
  • Become a Lead Volunteer, leading a daily team and dealing with potential re-homers
  • Write profiles on dogs who are available for re-homing for our website
  • Make videos to use on our social media
  • Write reports on our hounds for Facebook and other social media.
