Another Home Run Hounds Success Story!

Here at HRH we feel if that if it's the right home for the right dog then age doesn't matter. Margaret and her daughter Jane came to our Watford Gap kennels looking for a dog for Margaret who had just lost her much loved terrier.

Margaret is a sprightly 80-something and Jane had owned two greyhounds previously so she knew that a greyhound would be the perfect companion for her mum. After meeting a few dogs Rose was the perfect match being a small, placid, loving girl.

Homecheck completed, Rose went on her foster2adopt trial period though Margaret was sure she wouldn't be coming back. We were keen to find out how Rose did on her first night and like many she was unsettled but couldn't figure out how to get upstairs to be with Margaret so Margaret was up and down to comfort her.

We were poised ready to send out experienced volunteers out to teach Rose how to do stairs when the next morning Margaret cheerily reported that she had an unexpected visitor on her upstairs landing at 1am - Rose had taught herself how to go up and down the stairs and became Margaret's little shadow.

Jane said Rose has already enhanced her mom’s life and Rose does seem content, enjoying her walks and playing with her toys and chilling out in her big comfy bed.

We love a happy-ever- after ending and we wish Margaret and Rose all the best in their new life together.
