MORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Are you looking for a rewarding way to spend your spare time?
Home Run Hounds is looking for passionate volunteers to join our teams across the Midlands! Whether you’re a dog lover, good at DIY, have IT, photography, or admin skills , we have a place for you.
We are currently looking for more helping hands across our local branches - Monkspath, Wombourne; Broadmarsh, Hagley; and Watford Gap, Lichfield.
Volunteers will help ex-racing greyhounds adapt to "real life" preparing them for their forever families. Taking them for walks, playing, and grooming and handling all go towards socialising these wonderful dogs.
Day to day care is at the heart of what we do, from cleaning kennels and making beds to grooming and cleaning teeth, they all make a huge difference to the comfort and wellbeing of our dogs. These tasks may seem small, but to a greyhound waiting for their forever home, they mean so much more.
Beyond the kennels there are so many other ways to get involved. We run a wide range of activities throughout the year, including fundraising events like dog shows and our popular monthly walks, awareness events such as Crufts and visiting the general public at places like garden centres, as well as community visits to local schools, colleges and care homes.
These events are vital in helping us raise funds, find homes and share the greyhounds' stories - and we are always in need of friendly faces to support them and talk to the public.
If you would rather not be 'front of house', we are also looking for volunteers who can help behind the scenes with organising events, managing databases and growing our online presence and website, or there are always openings for those happy to lend a hand with general DIY and maintenance around the kennels.
We operate flexible volunteering, with no strict hours, just whatever you can offer within our operating times. Our kennel opening times are:
Monkspath and Watford Gap - 10am-1pm daily
Broadmarsh - 10am-12.30pm, 2pm-3.30pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday
