CHARLIE (NEW TO ME)'s story:
Valerie in Devon answered our call for potential foster carers but what she really wanted was to adopt dog. Val wasn't sure if we homed to people of her age but when we explained that HRH doesn't discriminate on age - the important thing is a suitable, loving home and finding a good match.
So the question was... which one of our hounds would love a life by the beach with Val?
After careful consideration we thought Charlie would fit the bill. Homecheck done via video chat and all good, the next challenge (we love a challenge here at HRH) was to get Charlie to Devon.
Fortunately volunteers Simon and Kerry agreed to a trip to the seaside with Charlie to meet Val, her family including her baby granddaughter, and their dogs. First impressions were good and Charlie spent a trial night with Val while Simon and Kerry stayed in Devon just in case things didn't work out.
They checked in with Val in the morning before heading back to the Midlands. It was all good despite the appalling weather, even though Charlie had found Val's bed that was off limits, thus earning the name cheeky Charlie.
Val said he has now taken over both the sofas instead but he loves a cuddle and a tummy tickle while lying next to Val. She did say her main requirements was a dog that was calm and cuddly!
After a short period on Foster2Adopt Charlie is now living the good life in Devon taking in the sea air, being cheeky, and getting lots cuddles from everyone he meets.
And thank you to Simon and Kerry going above and beyond with all the travelling - but that's what HRH volunteers do!
Thank you as well for not only giving Charlie a wonderful home but for her donation to cover travel cost as well as the adoption donation - very much appreciate.
Happy ever after endings like Charlie's make it all worthwhile.
