DREAM (ALIEN DREAM)'s story:
Some homings take a little longer than others. Home Run Hounds pride ourselves in taking the initial settling in period (foster to adopt) at the pace dictated by the individual dog.
Darling Dream (Alien Dream) was a nervous soul. She had enjoyed a few short term fosters, where we learnt that she took her courage from having a male greyhound around her.
Whilst in the racing kennels, Dream had always shared with her litter brother Bolt (Alien Bolt). Bolt had been homed to a lovely family some months prior, so imagine our joy (and anticipation) when they came to us, looking for a lady friend for him. We just knew we had to reunite these siblings, but would Dream cope in an active family unit ?
We needn't have worried. They met up again on site and Dream was instantly a different dog - recognising her brother straight away and making herself very much at home.
Dream can still be a little nervous around traffic noise, especially on the school run, but Bolt continues to be her strength and guide. Human wise, she is surrounded by so much love that she simply couldn't ask for more.
