ELLIE (PENNY'S ELAH)'s story:
Happily Homed Hound – Penny (Ellie)
We are so happy to celebrate the homing of Ellie now named Penny! It has been a real team effort of heroes to get her to this point, and we are so happy she has found her forever family with her own Hero.
When Penny came into kennels, she was extremely nervous and really struggled with the busy environment, she did not want to leave the safety of her bed.
But our amazing volunteers rallied round and Kay and Pete took her under their wing, they came daily to walk her and build a bond, eventually taking her on quiet walks and then some overnight stays to build her confidence.
This got her to the point where Rachel who had homed nervous boy Ron, offered to help and long term foster her, she really started to flourish with the help of Ron and also being in a quiet household with Rachel, her cheeky side slowly started to appear.
We put out an appeal to find her forever home, which was spotted by Simon and Sam who has recently homed Hero from us, and thought she would make the perfect companion for him.
Initial introductions went well, and Penny went on F2A with Sam & Simon and their two children Jacob and Lucy, Hero and their other dog Woodsey and cat George.
They have all been so patient with her and let her slowly come out of her shell at her won pace. She now approaches the children for treats and fuss, loves zoomies in the fields with Hero, and also loves midnight toy tossing which Sam caught on camera ?
It is so rewarding to home a shy hound and with time and patience see their personalities shine.
Thank you to everyone who helped Penny shine.
Happy new forever home Penny ???
