Another Home Run Hounds Success Story!

Hughie came into our kennels on the 22nd February 2024 and was not the easiest of Greyhounds. Depending on what mood he was in, he could either be the best-behaved hound you could ever wish for or he could literally change in an instance to an impatient and intolerant hound of everything.

Hughie had little interest by anyone, but our volunteers worked very hard with him and slowly he became a more tolerant hound with lots to offer…. but still no interest. We tried and tried and then came along Mike and Julie who had had Greyhounds before and offered to become foster carers for us. Their first challenge – Hughie.

So the journey began to help Hughie learn that the outside challenges are not that worrying thus helping him become an even more tolerant hound, who could be homed to a loving family.  Mike and Julie worked wonders, took him out, introduced him to new experiences and through their pictures and write ups along came Judy and Les who had heard about HRH whilst on holiday after meeting one of our homed hounds and saw Hughie’s story on our media and wanted to meet him.

Fast forward a few weeks and we are absolutely delighted to welcome Judy and Les to the Home Run Hounds family as they adopted our beautiful Hughie.  Hughie went with Judy and Les on our F2A scheme and was a hit with everyone including the neighbours so his final step of getting his “forever” home has just made everyone’s day.

WE NEVER GIVE UP on our Greyhounds. Thank you Judy and Les for adopting Hughie and Mike and Julie for fostering him and continuing your fostering with us.
