Happy Homing, Hecate (formerly Oreo)
When Iona and Jeremy came to the kennels looking for a hound, they were completely open to meeting some of our shyer residents. We always remind people that our sensitive souls don't always "sell" themselves right away, but with a little patience, their true personalities will absolutely shine.
They happily met three lovely girls, who as predicted didn't really engage with them during the viewing, but Iona and Jeremy could see past this and it was sweet little Hecate who completely stole their hearts!
It didn't take long for her to start settling into her brand-new life. She is eating like a champ, and is now being super affectionate, showing off her playful side. She even started showing a bit of a cheeky streak—specifically, a newfound hobby of stealing socks and shoes to carry around the house!
Just three weeks after leaving the kennels, Hecate officially became a permanent family member! Iona and Jeremy popped back to the kennels to finalise her adoption paperwork, and we couldn't be happier for them.
With her fresh start comes a majestic new name: Hecate (pronounced Heck-ah-tea)!
"Her confidence has been growing every day and she’s become our shadow around the house. She loves collecting slippers and sunbathing after zooming around the garden. It’s hard to believe she’s the same hound we picked up 3 weeks ago!
We are so incredibly grateful to Iona and Jeremy for looking past the initial shyness and giving this beautiful girl the time, space, and love she needed to blossom. Seeing a quiet kennel hound turn into a confident, slipper-stealing, sun-worshipping family shadow is exactly why we do what we do.
