There is no gift quite like a "forever sofa," and this Christmas, a very special hound named Loki (formerly Tyson) received exactly that!
We are pleased to announce that Loki has officially traded kennels for the retirement life he always deserved. But this story is extra special to us at Home Run Hounds...
A Growing Pack
Back in June 2025, Andy and Sarah visited us to find a companion for their elderly Lurcher, Ozzy. That’s when they adopted the lovely Lily. This December, they decided their hearts (and their sofa!) had room for one more. They returned to us to find a brother for Lily and Ozzy—and that’s when they met Loki.
It was love at first sight for the whole family, and Loki knew he’d found his "forever pack."
Loki’s First Family Christmas
While most were focused on gadgets and toys, Loki was busy mastering the art of being a pet. Here’s how his first Christmas at home went:
* The Toy Destroyer: The toy basket didn't stand a chance! It was "decimated" within hours—Loki clearly had a lot of missed playtime to make up for.
* The 20-Spin Rule: He has perfected the "Greyhound Nesting Technique," involving exactly 20 spins to find the perfect sleeping position.
* A Perfect Gentleman: Despite the chaos of wrapping paper and Christmas excitement, Loki was calm, sweet, and much more interested in napping than causing mischief.
* Best Friends: He is settling in beautifully with his new housemates, Ozzy and Lily. They’ve already agreed that life is better when shared (especially when treats are involved!).
Five-Star Service
The world can be a big, scary place for a retired racer, and Loki is still figuring out things like "stairs." Luckily, he has the best dad in the world—Andy has been giving him a personal lift to bed every night! Now that is what we call VIP treatment.
A Huge Thank You
We are so incredibly grateful to families like Andy and Sarah who return to Home Run Hounds to give another dog a chance at happiness. Thank you for giving this stunning black boy his Christmas miracle.
