From Foster to Forever
After losing our previous greyhound a few months ago, the house felt painfully quiet. We missed the gentle presence of a hound but were nervous about jumping straight back in — until we discovered Home Run Hounds’ foster?to?adopt scheme.
In November, we headed to Lichfield for some much?needed hound cuddles and to meet the residents, hoping to offer one a break from kennels over Christmas and New Year… and maybe longer.
That’s when we met Baliff Zoraya. Perfect on the lead, full of joy in the paddock, and overflowing with love for everyone she met. We couldn’t understand how she was still waiting in kennels. We signed up to collect her just before Christmas — but we couldn’t wait that long and extended our planned two?week foster to three.
From the moment she hopped into the car and settled herself down, she began to melt our hearts. Her love is endless; we’ve never known a greyhound who adores cuddles and kisses quite so much. From day one she slotted into our lives as though she’d always been here, and it didn’t take long for us to realise we couldn’t imagine life without her.
Now called Zara, this little love bug has changed our lives for the better.
The foster?to?adopt scheme gave us the perfect chance to watch her settle into home life while giving her a safe, loving space.
If you’re considering fostering or adopting, we can’t recommend Home Run Hounds enough. Greyhounds make the most incredible companions, and sometimes “just fostering” is all it takes to find your perfect match.
