STAR (TREVORS STAR)'s story:
HAPPY HOMING STAR (TREVOR’S STAR)
Star, now named Luna, has been adopted from our Watford Gap kennels by volunteer, Katie and husband Matt who has previously adopted two other greyhounds from us.
When Katie met Star at the kennels, and she ran straight up to her with a wagging tail and a spring in her step. Katie said, “She stole my heart there and then. We were after a small female greyhound and as fate had it, she arrived.
As we had two other greyhound boys, Zero and Obi, we needed to see if they would get along with her, so we brought them to meet her at the kennels. Luna just wanted to play, but our two boys just stood there wondering why they were back at the kennels,
With no negative reactions, we arranged to take all three on a walk off site. This again went perfectly, with all three enjoying eachother’s company.
The next process was to introduce Luna to our boys at home which went off with no problems and Luna made herself straight at home. It was very hard to return her back to the kennels a few hours later, but we understood that this needed to be a slow introduction to keep all dogs and humans safe and relaxed and stress free.
We started our foster to adopt but by the second day Luna was roaching, and we knew then she wasn't going back and went straight to adoption. She was happy and comfortable, our boys were happy and comfortable, and our children were smitten with her.
So now we are a family of 2 adults, 5 children and 3 dogs and we have never been happier. My husband thinks this could be the dog that favours him over me, but we will see.
When you adopt from Home Run Hounds, you don't just adopt a dog for your family, you also adopt all the volunteers, kennel staff, and all of the other owners who adopt from there. You all become a family who are always there to help in any way possible. The monthly greyhound walks are also brilliant to join in with and share your experience with others alike.”
Thanks Katie, for letting us know how positive the process was for you.
We are so pleased that Luna has fit right into the pack and look forward to seeing more of her at our events an walks joining Obi and Zero as HRH ambassadogs.
