Home Run Hounds volunteer, Ian Portess and his wife Jan were devastated by the sudden loss of their greyhound, Alfie. They decided to wait a while before beginning their search for another furry companion, with building work commencing at home and a family wedding taking place in the near future.
Instead, Ian and Jan kindly offered to take some of our kennel dogs home for weekend foster stays to gather more information with which to update their profiles. Several lucky dogs even accompanied Ian and Jan to their holiday lodge in Wales. It was on one of these visits that they found themselves becoming increasingly attached to their latest foster hound, Maggie.
Maggie showed them her cheeky, inquisitive side and they just couldn’t bear to be parted from her. All the volunteers were thrilled to hear about this ‘foster fail’ - though not in the slightest bit surprised - as she was always a firm favourite at the kennels. We wish Ian, Jan and Maggie many more happy holiday lodge stays in the future.
